Development of application models for sale points and the fulfillment of recycling responsibilities of “marketers” • To sign the recycling service contract • To prepare the recycling activity files • To plan waste management | Separate collection of packaging wastes at source • In cooperation with Büyükçekmece, Beyoğlu and Gaziosmanpaşa municipalities, packaging waste is collected separately at source. Sorting at source • Preparations for the “Packaging Waste Management Application Plan” of İstanbul together with İSTAÇ A.Ş. - one of the Economic Enterprises of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and authorized by both the said municipality and MOEF. • Activities related with “Packaging Waste Management Application Plan” in Büyükçekmece and Kağıthane districts of İstanbul. • Our first activities associated with the above mentioned plan were carried out on April 28, 2006 in Kağıthane district. |
2006 activities • Recovery responsibilities of 84 business enterprises which have marketer responsibilities were fulfilled. • 10 companies which have packaging producer responsibilities were informed and coordinated with MOEF. • 13,000 tons of paper, 2,500 tons of plastic, and 400 tons of metal were used for documentation in the name of marketers. • 2 seminars were organized in order to evaluate the Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste Control and to provide information to business enterprises and packaging producers active in the field. • According to the protocol signed with Gebze Plastic Producers Organized Industrial Zone, execution of Organized Industrial Zone’s waste management were given a start. |
| Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Environment and Forestry How much waste is generated in Turkey? State Institute of Statistics estimates of waste for 2003: Waste collected at 3018 municipalities (out of 3215) which receive solid waste service is 26.12 million tons and the average of waste on a daily basis is 1,38 kg per individual. According to another research dating 2004: 1889 municipalities (out of 1911) have received solid waste service. Total amount of solid waste collected is 24.24 million tons and 1.34 kg per individual. |
