Cooperation with Brisa and its dealer in the collection of old tires

Cooperation with Akçansa Çimento in the transformation of tires into fuel oil as an alternative energy

In 2004, a tire recovery project leaded by LHSv and supported by Akçansa Çimento AŞ. was given a start. Within the scope of this project tires, which are generally thrown away to nature, water resources and forests or burnt without concerning their negative effect on nature, are disposed under control and with modern methods.
Direct utilization (reuse)
Agriculture, Swings for children’s playgrounds, Buffer for ports...
Thermal utilization (energy recovery)
Cement factories, Thermal power plants…
Material utilization (conservation of the material)
Rubber granules, coatings...
Raw material utilization (raw material recovery)
Oils like gasoline, gases, chemical substances...

Unfortunately, as a result of high investment costs, systems to transform tires into secondary raw material has not been implemented yet. We hope that the publication of regulation within the framework of adaptation to EU by MOEF on 25 November 2006 and its coming into force on 01 January 2007 enables to collect and recover tires, which reach the end of their economic life, under more control. Like in every other field of recovery, we also keep on working to provide and produce modern technologies of recovery necessary for our country.

Today, our operations on a monthly basis are limited to 1000 tons of tire which are collected from 600 different collection points (dealers, second hand tire dealers, tiremen, municipalities, etc.) in İstanbul.

By the help of Brisa’s sensitivity about this subject and with the authority Brisa granted us, we have been collecting tires from users and transporting them to Akçansa Çimento.
